Our year begins with Classic Authors Research Project! Students in groups research and do a presentation on pairs of famous classic authors: Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, to name a few. Some research is done in class with my personal library, but most of the work has to be done outside the class by the students. Ask your child to show you the project assignment sheet which includes a checklist of work that must be completed. Groups will present their authors in a given week and will receive a grade for their efforts. An emphasis is put on bibliographic citation, which they will need to master for high school and college papers. Photos of our presentations will appear here on the website, so check back in early October.
Ways to help your child: ask them what they are working on, share your interest in classic authors, show them books at home written by classic authors, check their bibliography, and watch movies adapted from classic stories! Enjoy!
